Basuki: Smog Shrouding Jakarta Still Normal

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T. Purnama acknowledged the smog worsening in Sumatra and Kalimantan started to impact other islands like Java especially Jakarta. Ahok stated that smog level is still normal.

Haze level is still normal to medium

“Smog level is still normal to medium,” he said at City Hall, Monday (10/26).

Ahok appealed residents to pray for smog crisis. “Let’s pray for it, hopefully it can soon tackle down,” he expressed.

In addition he added that central government is still working on to tackle it down by water bombing.

“They tried the best and burnout process is still ongoing, just pray and let God do the rest,” he stated.

Beforehand, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) admitted that thin smog began shrouding Jakarta’s sky since Friday (10/23).

National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said that smog in Jakarta is still normal but to notice poluttion level from vehicles.

He added small particle from thin haze drift away above 1,000-3,000 meters. Smog looked quite thick in the morning due to it tied up fog.
