8 Countries to Enliven Jakarta International Folklore Festival, Be Sure to Come!

On September 13-14 September, Jakarta Tourism and Culture Department (Disparbud) to hold Jakarta International Folklore Festival (JFF) 2019 at Lapangan Banteng Park, Central Jakarta.

JIFF is here to introduce and preserve world's intangible cultural heritages to public

There are 8 countries participating in this festival that sends 28 groups to show each countries traditions. Those are  Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, and Ukraine.

Jakarta Disparbud's Cultural Art Division Head, Gumilar Ekalaya said, this festival raises theme 'Friendship Through The Spirit of Unity' with hope that each countries have spirits of mutual understanding to bring peace in the world through cultural arts.

"We will use this chance to show our cultures and build friendship with other countries, especially in presenting traditional cultural arts as a way to appreciate and protect the world's cultures," he explained, Wednesday (9/11).

For information, JIFF 2019 will be held from 7-11 PM every day. People can visit this event for free.

"We predict around 10 thousand visitors will visit this event every day," he added.

According to him, Indonesia is rich of cultures and arts since each province has its own traditions.

Thus, through JIFF 2019, Jakarta Government wants to promote Indonesia's cultures to the world.

Meanwhile, JIFF 2019 Festival Director, Maria Darmaningsih stated, Indonesia has various traditions, diversities, and folklore, especially Jakarta. Thus her side wants to share it to the world through JIFF 2019.

"JIFF is here to introduce and preserve world's intangible cultural heritages to public, especially millennial generation with attractive festival packaging," she conveyed.

Besides dance and music performances, this festival will be also enlivened with workshop related to world traditional art that invites foreign speakers and art practitioners.
