In handling sanitary issue in slum residential, Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat is planning to build one communal toilet for one RT. This development program is deemed to ease waste management.

mentioned, there are 174 slum RW in 5 municipalities in which among three of
them are categorized into severe slum while the rest are medium slum.
“The data of National Development Planning Agency
(Bappenas) revealed the 13.1 percent of residential
sanitary in Jakarta remain in a bad state,” he stated, Wednesday
(11/25).
Hidayat added, one of sanitary issues is toilet
provision. Thus, communal toilet is the solution.
“Communal toilet is one toilet for one RT,” he
expressed.
The main target of communal toilet development is
severe slum area then gradually move to medium until light slum area.
“This can be realized if we involving local
residents as the principle is mutual cooperation,” he finished.
