Residents, Beware to Consume Mussels, Basuki Says

Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T. Purnama appealed local residents in Muara Angke not to consume mussels. This is because high metals content in mussels.

“Mussles are not safe to be consumed lately,” he said at City Hall, Wednesday (12/2).

Responding to dead fish phenomenon, Ahok expressed that Jakartans should not be panic excessively. As the research result from Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) revealed  dead fish phenomenon is because lack of oxygen instead of poison.

“No need to panic, its because lack of oxygen instead of poison,” he uttered.

As huge plankton population increased and suck the oxygen up and caused those fishes lack of oxygen.

“Huge plankton suck up the oxygen and caused this phenomenon occurred,” he remarked.
