6,644 Police Personnel Guarding Christmas and New Year Eve in Jakarta

Chief of Metro Jaya City Police, Ir Gen. Tito Karnavian visited Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama at City Hall. It was in order to discuss the preparation of security on Christmas and New Year eve in the city.

"We have prepared Lilin Jaya Operation 2015 to secure religious event of Christmas and New Year," he said in executive meeting room at City Hall, Monday (12/7).

He told that the operation has been started by his rank since a week ago until today. Since in 2000 ago there was terrorist attack simultaneously in the homeland, including Jakarta. "The Christmas security is our priority. We're also alerting new year eve," he told.

City Police to Draw Up Traffic Diversion Concept

He uttered the security  is involving 6,664 police personnel charged since December 24-31, 2015, assisted by 2,700 Satpol PP personnel. "Whole units will keep increasing as the  existing threat," he continued.

Besides personnel, he furthered, during the operation, his side will also establish 102 security posts in detail 61 posts in City area and 41 post outside of city area, including Banten.

"Those 61 security posts in Jakarta are centered in entertainment places and churches," he explained.
