BPLHD Alerts River Pollution Monitoring Unit

Jakarta Environment Management Agency (BPLHD) will re-activate monitoring unit of waste pollution. Eventually, the unit will be patrolling to explore rivers for preventing  pollution.

Head of Jakarta BPLHD , Junaedi stated the unit consists of BPLHD, Maritime Husbandry and Food Security (KPKP) Department and police personnel. If there is company or individual caught disposing waste, will be jailed.

"20 Percent of waste polluting rivers in Jakarta is from industry sector. While the rest 80 percent is from household," he stated, Wednesday (12/9).

He told, currently BPLHD has only monitoring team. Hence, in future his side plans to activate mutual unit to take action.

"Not only big company monitored. But also, home industry," he asserted.
