Water Hyacinth Cleaned From Armain River

The Armain River, RW 03 Marunda Urban Village, Cilincing, North Jakarta are cleaned from water hyacinth plants by Infrastructures and Public Facilities Handling (PPSU) officers . Because the plants could hamper the river flow thus can cause overflowing waters.

"It's cleaned along 400 meters. We do it gradually until the plants no longer growing there," said Head of Cilincing Sub-District, Nana Hendriana, Friday (12/11).

According to Hendriana, the plant grows by itself. And the growth is quite fast during rainy season. "If it gets more, covering the river could hamper the flow. We deployed 50 personnel to clean it," he explained.

Based on Beritajakarta.com observations, some of officers transported the plant from the river then put on the river edge. While the others on the land transported it to carts.

He explained, rainfall in the latest two weeks often hit coastal area. To make puddle gets receded quickly, his side intensively clean both rivers or channels.

"Headmen are instructed to go down directly to field holding communal work along with residents," he closed.
