Negligent in Lift Maintenance, Building Manager Threatened to Be Sanctioned

Following the elevator accident in Nestle Building on Jalan TB Simatupang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Thursday (12/10),  the sentence punishment is ensured to be imposed to building manager for unmaintained elevator. The accident caused 2 people died and 3 others injured.

We’ll investigate our team whether they are on stand by or not

“We’ll investigate this accident before imposing punishment,” said Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” T Purnama, at City Hall, Friday (12/11).

According to Ahok, the building monitoring must also involve Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Dept. He also intends to summon supervisor of related unit for questioning.

Elevator in Jatinegara Barat Flat Operate Alternately

We’ll investigate our team whether they are on stand by or not. The monitoring is under Manpower Dept, starting from escalator machines, lift, etc,” he told.

Based on temporary report, the lift gets maintenance from technical officer. Nevertheless, we have to find out it.

“As I heard, the lift wire is not broken off, but just off. Perhaps, there is a mistake in its installation,” he assumed.

In future, the building management will be appealed to routinely maintain the building.

“Please fix it up,” he stressed.
