City Remains Face Biggest Challenges; Flood and Congestion, Basuki Says

Handling the problem of flooding and congestion remains a priority of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama in 2016 City Budget (APBD).

We gonna provide levee, that’s why important to arrange it and including land acquisition and dredging work

Basuki confirmed that flooding and traffic congestion are still the hardest challenge for City Administration to be solved.

"Still flooding and congestion. We gonna provide levee, that’s why important to arrange it and including land acquisition and dredging work," he uttered at Jakarta Legislative Council Building, Saturday (12/19).

Land Acquisition for Reservoir Project to Be Complete This Month

Basuki claimed that his party have allocated huge budget beyond Rp 3 trillion for flat development. The flats provided are addressed for evictees who were affected by river normalization.

He further said that flood mitigation can only be done by doing river normalization. As the current river’s width has been much reduced due to residential area.

"That’s why we allocated such bugdet to carry out optimally river & reservoir normalization," he uttered.

In line with the matter, Basuki also has allocated Rp 50 billion for flood handling.
