The broiler chicken price in some traditional markets in West Jakarta is creeping up, between 25-40 percent. The current price is Rp 23,500 per piece from normal price is about Rp 18,000 per piece.

"The price hike on broiler chicken is due to low supply," reported Renova Ida Siahaan, Head of West Jakarta Marine, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-Dept, Wednesday (1/13).

She said, her sub-dept will hold market operation to solve this problem. But she could not ensure when its implementation.

"We will coordinate in advance with Jakarta Marine, Agriculture and Food Security Dept because it had something to do with chicken stock from the center," he expressed.

Based on the data, chicken supply from producer/ breeder is between 50,000-70,000 piece per day that spread to chicken slaughterhouses in West Jakarta.
