West Jakarta City Disaster Handling Office (KPPK) deployed 1,000 volunteers to anticipate flood peak which is predicted to occur in last January up to early February. Based on last year data, 30 out of 56 urban villages in West Jakarta are prone to flood.
Those volunteers are spread in 56 urban villages
Firmanudin, office’s officer, explained that the volunteers have been trained to handle evacuation up to providing public kitchen.
“Those volunteers are spread in 56 urban villages,” he said, Monday (1/25).
Coordination of Flood Post Needs to Be IntensifiedBased on the mapping, the flood handling will be divided into three categories; safe zone, moderate zone, and serious zone.
“Safe zone means the water height does not disturb the activity. Moderate zone means area is inundated but activity still can be implemented, while serious zone means citizen must be evacuated,” he explained.
