People Interest Low, Jokowi Blamed KPU

Citizens participation for legislative election (Pileg) in Taman Suropati, Menteng, Central Jakarta was very low. From three Polling Stations (TPS) of TPS 25, 26 and 27 in the area, the average of residents participation below 50 percent.

We have supported KPU much, but the socialization is still needed

Jakarta Governor Jokowi Widodo assessed socialization conducted by KPU was not maximal to gain the voters. In fact, Jakarta KPU targeted 75 percent of citizen participation.

"We have supported KPU much, but the socialization is still needed," Jokowi said, Wednesday (4/9).

75 Percent of Citizens Targeted to Use Vote Right

Data gathered by beritajakarta.com, revealed there were 175 voters at TPS 25 out of 334 total voters, 206 voters at TPS 26 out of 463 total voters, and 278 voters at TPS 27 out of 430 total voters.

RT 06 Menteng chief, Bambang Sudirjo, explained busyness and low concern are the main cause of low participation. Furthermore, the old aged citizens were reluctant to vote.

"Several houses are left empty. That's why the participation was low," he stated.
