Hundreds of residents in some polling stations at Kebon Pala Urban Village, Makasar Sub-District, East Jakarta, had to re-vote in legislative election, Wednesday (4/9). Such a thing happened because the ballots were considered invalid since they contained candidates from Electoral District (dapil) 5 of Matraman, Pulogadung, and Cakung. In fact, it should be Electoral District 6 of Kramatjati, Makasar, and Jatinegara.
The voters who have voted had to be called again to re-vote. But, many of them didn’t show up. So, their ballots are considered invalid
Head of polling station (TPS) 45, Bambang, said the ballots were piled into one and kept in an envelope. The committee knew there were invalid ballots when the voters protested their candidates are not on it. The protests then directly followed up by examining the ballots. As a result, from 460 ballots, only 21 ballots were Electoral District 6, while the rest were Electoral District 5. Ironically, 72 voters already gave their votes. That is why those voters had to re-vote since the first ballots were invalid.City Police: The 2014 Legislative Election Runs Safely

“The residents had to be back and forth to TPS due to first votes were considered invalid,” he told.
During the re-voting, quarrels had occurred between election committee and the residents. It happened because when the officers were about to close voting time, there were still many residents have not repeated voting. Fortunately, the matter can be resolved after the committee allowed the residents to re-vote.
