Running for President, Jokowi Stays Focus to Develop Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo (Jokowi) again asserted that his candidacy to be Indonesian president will not disturb development programs in the capital city. He admitted that he stays focus in running Jakarta Provincial Government’s programs to boost the economy as well as to reduce traffic congestion and flood.

It (presidential candidacy) is not related. The programs have been planned since October and submitted to the council. We just need to carry them out now

It (presidential candidacy) is not related. The programs have been planned since October and submitted to the council. We just need to carry them out now. I’m sharing duties with Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama to control the implementation of programs that have been planned in the City Budget (APBD),” he stated at City Hall, Friday (4/11).

Regarding vacant city secretary position, Jokowi denied if such a thing hindered Jakarta Provincial Government’s performances.

Jokowi Has Not Decided to Take Leave or Resign

“How many years acting city secretary exist? It has been more than a year. Do the government hindered? Budget absorption is already 4.5 percent, that’s why we want to push control management, entrance check, and entrance supervision, because the money (APBD) is a lot, Rp 72 trillion,” he uttered.

As known, on Thursday (4/10) Jokowi summoned all Regional Working Units (SKPD) and reminded them to accelerate development. Moreover, the city budget has been ratified by the City Council (DPRD) and has been disbursed in early March.

“This is already April. Many departments, sub-departments, and regional working units haven’t started anything. That’s why I gather all (SKPDs). If the development programs were carried out in a hurry, the qualities must be bad. Then, problems would arise, (rusty TransJakarta) bus for example,” he expressed.
