City Prepares Regulation to Limit Plastic Use

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat invited Jakarta residents to use paid plastic bag. It is aimed ti decrease plastic use which can harm the environment.

“Paid plastic bag would limit the use of plastic bag,” he said, Sunday (2/21).

According to him, garbage volume in Jakarta reaches 6,500 ton per day and 15 percent are plastic.

Plastic garbage would decompose in 500 up to 1,500 years. Djarot appealed the residents to bring plastic bag from the house if refusing the paid one. Regulation to limit plastic bag use will be issued in form of Bylaw or Governor Regulation.
