Facing the 2014 Adipura Trophy scoring, seven street vendors’ carts on sidewalks and in parks along Jalan Gatot Subroto-Jalan Dr Soepomo are confiscated by Menteng Dalam Urban Village Satpol PP, Tebet, South Jakarta. In addition, parks and other public facilities are also repaired.

“ Today, we conducted firm action against street vendors whose carts or stalls stood atop sidewalks and parks. We managed to confiscate seven carts ,” told Head of Menteng Dalam Urban Village, Agung, Friday (4/18).

According to Agung, his party had warned the cart owners and given warning letter prior to the raid. But, some of the street vendors ignored the warnings.

“Previously, there were tens of street vendors’ carts. These (carts) belong to unruly street vendors. That’s why we instantly confiscated it, so unruly street vendors would wary,” he stated.

The carts confiscated were mostly used to sell cigarettes, coffee, and instant noodles. The street vendors selling their wares from afternoon until evening, then leave their carts on the sidewalk and in the parks. Afterwards, those carts will be handed out to Tebet Sub-District to be processed to give deterrent effect to the street vendors.
