150 Tons of Garbage Pilling Up in Kampung Melayu Bridge

We predict the garbage volume reaches 150 tons. And now, 30 percent have been transported and is targeted to be finished today

Post-demolishment in Kalibata Bridge, Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran, garbage pile left by flood from Ciliwung River, moved to Kampung Melayu Bridge, Jl KH Abdullah Syafe'i, South Jakarta. Predicabtly, garbage pilling up in Ciliwung River, around the bridge reached 150 tons.

Based on Beritajakarta.com, garbage stuck around 30 meters of the overall width of the bridge up to 40 meters. Long pile reaches 40-50 meters. Trash that snagged consists of various types, ranging from bamboo, beams, plywood, mattresses, styorofoam, cardboard and so on.

Dredged Mud Left Pilling Up at Riverside

Rahmat, (53), a citizen of Kampung Melayu said, garbage stuck in Kampung Melayu Bridge at around 3 AM. It coincided with the overflow of Ciliwung River. 

"In the past flood, garage was only entangled in Kalibata Bridge. But after being demolished, its garbage moves to Kampung Melayu," he stated, Saturday (4/2).

Head of Water UPK, Jakarta Cleanliness Dept, Junjungan Sihombing diclosed, garbage condition is the same with Kalibata bridge prior to demolishment. "We predict the garbage volume reaches 150 tons. And now, 30 percent have been transported and is targeted to be finished today," he told.

His side sent one long-arm excavator and spider excavator to pick up the garbage. As for garbage transportation towards Bantar Gebang Landfill, as many as nine big trucks and eight small trucks have been alerted.
