SMAN 8 Prepares Flood Scenario

Anticipating flood during national exam, SMAN 8 Bukit Duri, Tebet, South Jakarta, prepares special access for students via emergency stairs. Stair connects with school and not flooded.

Agusman Anwar, school’s headmaster, said 360 students of SMAN 8 participated in computer-based national exam. There are three sessions, first is at 7.30 AM to 9.30 AM, second is 10.30 - 12.30 PM, and third is 2 PM - 4 PM. Each session is participated by 120 students.

Flood hit the school two days ago, he added, did not disturb the exam since it takes place at second and third floor.

“Exam runs well. We have prepared emergency stair as the access,” he said, Monday (4/4).

He only worries with CIliwung river overflows. If the water level reaches one meter, electricity will go off.

There are three scenarios if the electricity is off. First, there are 40 laptops with one portable UPS in one lab. Second, two mobile generators are also prepared.

“Third, Dept. of Transportation has prepared four school buses for evacuation if the flood is too high,” he added.

Exam will be run in SMAN 28 Pasar Minggu if the students are evacuated.
