Basuki: Jokowi still Cares about Jakarta

Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama asserted that Jakarta Governor Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo remains focus in handling city’s affairs although he has officially become presidential candidate from Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). This is conveyed to answer some parties who assessed that Jokowi no longer cares about the problems exist in Jakarta.

Mr. Jokowi is still focus, he didn’t mention anything about (being) presidential candidate,” stated Basuki at City Hall, Monday (4/21).
Despite Jokowi has left the City Hall early for several times, Basuki guarantees that the communication between them is still running smooth, including via cell phone and social media.
Running for President, Jokowi Stays Focus to Develop Jakarta“I bring all dispositions to my house and do it all. I always coordinate with him (Jokowi) via cell phone, nothing is missed,” he stressed.
Moreover, Basuki admitted that he has asked Jokowi not to resign from his post as Jakarta Governor, because he still needs the figure of Jokowi to discuss and find solution for Jakarta problems.
“I’ve asked him not to resign. Leave is for sure, but no need to resign. Yes, I still need a friend to discus. Besides, there are many people who don’t like me to become governor, right?” he exclaimed.
