Jakarta Governor, Basuki T. Purnama visited Ministry of Trade in order to discuss import beef from India. The discussion was held prior to Eid ul Fitr.

He requested the imported beef should not be sold to market, but industrial. Jakarta Provincial Government has tried to suppress beef price by coordinating with East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) government.
Price Obstructs Beef Supply from East JavaBeef from NTT is sold Rp 95-99 thousand per kilogram. By adding the stocks prior to Eid ul Fitr, beef price should be maintained at Rp 120 thousand per kilogram.
Frozen beef would be also sold to KJP holder in cheaper price.
“We would sell the frozen beef Rp 35 thousand per kilogram for KJP holders. They should eat meat once a month minimum,” he added.
