Green Open Space Extension Constrained with Expensive Land Price

Many efforts keep forced by Jakarta Provincial Government to add green open space (RTH) in its area. Unfortunately, the efforts to add RTH in the city still have problem which one of it caused by expensive price of land in the city.

"Green open space in Jakarta is still 9 percent, still far from determined target for 30 percent," Darjamunri said, Head of Department for Maritime and Agriculture Jakarta, Tuesday (4/22).

Darjamuni said, one of the efforts to add RTH by his authority is to plant hundreds or even thousands new tree in some locations. Such as plant 270 rare trees on Ujung Menteng urban forest, Cakung, East Jakarta.

Kalijodo to Be Transformed as Green Open Space

Darjamuni continues, Slow action to extend RTH in city, is caused by expensive price of land in the city added with minimum budget owned. But, even though in limitation, he still optimistic to realize RTH until 30 percent wide.

"We still have 14 locations of RTH. If combined with the Governor Notification Letter ownership, but still not reached target," he said.

Meanwhile, in the activity to plant 270 rare trees on Ujung Menteng urban forest, Agustinus Bambang Wisageni, Head of East Jakarta Sub-Dept. for Maritime and Agriculture added, the type of trees is categorized as rare trees and many of it named with urban villages name in Jakarta.

The type of trees are, bintaro trees, bungur trees, cempaka putih trees, cempaka kuning trees, and duku trees. "There are 270 trees which consist of 27 types of rare trees planted in this urban forest," he said.

Bambang added, Ujung Menteng Urban Forest width is 1,43 hectare and included as one interactive urban forest which established on 2008. Until this time, the urban forest have 495 collections type of trees and facilitated with jogging track for the citizens
