Allegedly Over Hazing, Marunda STIP Student Died Unnaturally

The death of Dimas Dikita Handoko, a first-year student of Indonesian Merchant Marine Academy (STIP), Marunda, North Jakarta, is still a mystery. To reveal the case, the police keep finding out the motive behind Handoko’s death, which said to be over hazing done by senior students to junior students, and questioned some people.

According to North Jakarta Resort Police Chief Sr. Comr. M Iqbal, his party got a report from hospital, telling that a STIP student died unnaturally. Handoko, a student from Medan, North Sumatra, died at around 3 AM, Saturday (4/26) in Port Medical (PMC) Hospital, North Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Siagian (45), the owner of a boardinghouse where the hazing was conducted, admitted that he does not know about the violence happened in his boardinghouse because the house is always crowded.

“They (STIP students) often gathered here because my boardinghouse is near futsal court. But, around 10 PM last night, I had asked one of the suspects who was calling and said that he was calling his father in Medan,” told Siagian.
