Harkitnas Is a Turning Point for Combating Drugs

Commemorating the National Resurgence Day (Harkitnas) that falls on Friday (5/20), Jakarta Vice Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat reminds the capital must be free from drugs.

He explained national revival is closely related to the future of the younger generation. Therefore, the eradication of drugs in the city should also be improved.

"How can our nation rise up if most of the younger generation is consuming drugs. That's why we have to direct action, eradicating drugs," he stressed, after he met with representatives of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), at City Hall, Jakarta, Friday (5/20).

Jakarta Provincial Government recorded drugs user in the city is reaching 365,000 people. Majority of them are aged of between 10-50 years old. In order not increasing in number, Jakarta government along with the BNN and the Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNP) will tighten drug trafficking to the level of the producers.

He hoped, such national day could also trigger the rise of Jakarta that is free from drugs.

"We should be free from poverty, ignorance and drugs," he finished.
