Chicken Price Rocketing Significantly

Hike price on chicken has been happened since three days

Approaching the fasting month, staple food price in Kramat Jati Market, East Jakarta began creeping up significantly. It can be seen from chicken and beef, where the price has hit 80 percent.

Wati (34), a chicken seller said, since three days ago, big-sized chicken price has increased from Rp 25 thousand to Rp 40 thousand per pieces and small one from Rp 18 thousand to Rp 25 thousand.

"Hike price on chicken has been happened since three days. I don't the cause is. But it always happens approaching the fasting month and Eid ul-Fitr," she stated, Tuesday (5/31).

Consequently, buyer level in the market has decreased up to 30 percent.

"Most just ask and offer the price, when they know price increased, they decided not to buy," she told.

Kramat Jati Market Manager, Makmun disclosed that since three days, a number of staple foods have increased, especially red union, red chili, garlic, sugar, potato and so forth.

He mentions red onion rose from Rp 25 thousand to Rp 44 thousand per kilogram, garlic from Rp 23 thousand to Rp 40 thousand per kilogram, sugar from Rp 13 thousand to Rp 16,500 per kilogram and potato from Rp 12 thousand to Rp 15 thousand per kilogram

It also happens to red chili TW from Rp 35 thousand to Rp 36 thousand per kilogram and beef from Rp 90 thousand to Rp 120 kilogram.

"We plan to open market operation on June 4," he finished.
