Panglima Polim Development Takes Priority at Melawai Musrenbang

Development needs in the Panglima Polim area became the top priority at Melawai Urban Village Development Planning Meeting (Musrenbang), Kebayoran Baru Sub-district, South Jakarta.

"... can serve as a solid foundation for targeted and sustainable development planning,"

South Jakarta Secretary Mukhlisin said public participation is essential at every stage of the musrenbang process to ensure that development planning is carried out transparently and accountably.

"This is important so that information on the progress of the proposals can be openly accessed, allowing for effective and efficient planning while strengthening continuity between the community and the government, from urban village and sub-district levels to the city and provincial levels," he explained, Monday (2/2).

According to him, strong collaboration between residents and the government would help realize Jakarta's vision as a global city, with development policies that prioritize public interests.

In becoming a global city, he added, Jakarta needs to meet several key criteria, including a strong economy, global connectivity, robust research capacity, adequate innovation, and comfortable, livable residential spaces.

"Related to housing comfort, there are still serious health challenges. Illnesses often arise from unhealthy housing conditions, such as limited exposure to sunlight and poor air circulation," he pointed out.

He noted that Melawai Urban Village is one of South Jakarta's strategic areas. The presence of Blok M within its region has long served as a meeting point for the public and a major transportation hub connecting various parts of Jakarta and surrounding regions, contributing to economic growth and increased Regional Revenue (PAD).

"Development proposals in this area must be carefully planned to avoid implementation issues, particularly those caused by a lack of coordination. Given that the area has become a major center of people's activity, all aspects must be well organized," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Melawai Urban Village Head Muhammad Iqbal explained that of the 20 proposals submitted in this year's musrenbang, three have been agreed upon as priority proposals.

The priority proposals include the construction or improvement of drainage channels on Jalan Panglima Polim X, XI, and XII; the construction and maintenance of road infrastructure on Jalan Panglima Polim IX; and the installation of street lighting on Jalan Panglima Polim II and Jalan Wijaya X.

"We hope that all proposals formulated in this urban village forum can serve as a solid foundation for targeted and sustainable development planning," he said.
