Pramono Confirms Nipah Virus Has Not Been Found in Jakarta

The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, confirmed that there have been no reports of residents infected with the Nipah virus in Jakarta up to this day.

Nipah virus is a dangerous zoonotic disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans and between humans.

Although conditions are still monitored as safe, the Jakarta Provincial Government has taken swift steps to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

"Until today in Jakarta, no one has been found to have been infected with the Nipah virus," he said, Tuesday (2/3).

His rank continues to coordinate intensively with the Indonesian Minister of Health to monitor the development of the Nipah virus. He also instructed the Health Agency to immediately take anticipatory measures.

"Hopefully Jakarta will immediately anticipate this and I have asked the Health Agency to immediately address and handle this," he added.

Pramono also reminded his rank to remain vigilant against other diseases, including leptospirosis, a disease transmitted through rat urine, which often lurks among residents during the rainy season.

"Hopefully Jakarta will be more responsive. The problems related to the Nipah virus, then the rat urine incident yesterday and so on, hopefully will not happen in Jakarta," he hoped.
