"Public Works Agency has and will continue to operate without instructions. The Governor has instructed that there is no need to be told to do so; if there is a damaged road, repair it immediately," Rano said.

Rano added that the repairs carried out by his rank were a temporary measure, because the rainy season was not over yet and there was concern that damage would recur if permanent repairs were carried out immediately.

Technically, Rano explained, repairing potholes is run through a fast and temporary emergency system using instant asphalt material (cold mix).

Rano continued that the Jakarta Provincial Government also carries out regular maintenance to maintain the road conditions so that they remain good.

"This step is a proactive effort that is planned routinely to ensure that road conditions remain optimal and safe for vehicles to pass through," he continued.

Based on data from the Jakarta Public Works Agency, from January 1 to 26, 2026, 6,381 potholes were repaired.

Furthermore, in the second phase, which took place from January 27 to February 2, 2026, repairs were carried out at 2,147 locations. In total, 8,528 roads across Jakarta have been temporarily repaired.

"This number will increase, because the Public Works Agency continues to make improvements in a number of locations," he said.

According to Rano, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also strengthening cross-agency coordination in handling road damage caused by utility and transportation projects, such as PT MRT Jakarta, PT LRT Jakarta, PAM Jaya, and other related partners.

Residents are also asked to actively report potholes to the Jakarta Public Works Agency via the complaint service at 021-3844444.

"To the residents of Jakarta, we apologize for having to work in stages. Hopefully, it won't get damaged again," he stated.
