North Jakarta Personnel Tackle 1,624 Road Repairs in January Blitz

The North Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency patched up 1,624 damaged road sections across six sub-districts throughout January 2026. The repairs were fast-tracked to ensure a smooth and safe commute for the public.

North Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Head, Darwin Ali, noted that the damage ran the gamut from minor cracks to gaping potholes. He attributed the issues to standing water and general wear and tear.
"We are tackling road repairs head-on across North Jakarta to keep our streets safe for everyone, from motorists to pedestrians," he stated, Thursday (2/5).

Rounding out the list were Tanjung Priok with 190 repairs, Pademangan with 182, and Penjaringan with 198.
The damage at these sites generally ranged from 20–50 cm in size. Personnel used both hot and cold mix asphalt to fill the gaps, with city and district-level maintenance teams—locally known as the "Yellow Squad"—handling the heavy lifting.

Besides waiting for reports to roll in, he is taking a proactive stance with routine patrols to nip road issues in the bud and keep the city moving.
He also urged residents to be the city’s eyes and ears by reporting any damage through official channels for a quick fix.
"At the end of the day, it’s a joint effort between the government and the public to keep our infrastructure safe and North Jakarta on the move," he explained.

"The recent flooding definitely took a toll on our streets, but our men stayed on top of resident reports to get them fixed. Now, the roads are back in tip-top shape and safe for the public once again," he emphasized.
