Jakarta’s Labor Force Climbs to 5.53 Million as of Nov 2025

Data from the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) reveals that Jakarta’s labor pool hit 5.53 million individuals in November 2025, marking an addition of 67,000 people since August of the same year.

This represents a 0.72 percentage point uptick

Jakarta Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Hewd, Hadarmanto noted that the city's labor composition as of November 2025 comprises 5.18 million employed residents and 349,000 unemployed individuals.

He further detailed that while the number of employed residents in the capital saw a healthy gain of 48,670, on the flip side, the number of job seekers also edged up by 18,630 compared to the August figures.

"The Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR)—which measures the labor force against the working-age population—clocked in at 65.47% in November 2025. This represents a 0.72 percentage point uptick than August 2025," he stated, Friday (2/6).

He elaborated that the hospitality and F&B sectors led the charge in job creation, adding 38,000 people to their payrolls.

"Approximately 3.28 million people, or 63.43% of the workforce, are engaged in formal employment—a slight uptick of 0.06 percentage points compared to August 2025," he explained.

However, he also noted a surge in underemployment, which jumped by 110,000 individuals, marking a 12.93% increase over the same period.

"Jakarta’s Open Unemployment Rate settled at 6.31% in November 2025, edging up by 0.26 percentage points from August 2025," Hadarmanto concluded.
