Road to Larata Run 2026 Combines Running with Public Transport

PT LRT Jakarta held Road to Larata Run 2026, combining running with the use of public transport. The event marked the start of a series of activities commemorating the seventh anniversary of LRT Jakarta's commercial operations, which falls in December 2026.

We are offering a new experience

A total of 160 participants took part in the 5K run, starting from the GAFOY area at Summarecon Mall Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta and heading to Velodrome Station in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.

Jakarta Running Festival Shows High Potential for Continuous Growth

PT LRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head Aris Rizal Arafah said the event was designed to encourage people to use public transport as part of a healthy lifestyle.

"Through Road to Larata Run 2026, we are offering a new experience by combining sports with travel on LRT Jakarta," he said on Saturday (10/31).

Aris explained that after reaching Velodrome Station, participants returned to the Kelapa Gading area by taking the LRT Jakarta from Boulevard Utara Station. The event then concluded at the finish line in the GAFOY area.

"The event also featured a Betawi Style-themed fashion competition showcasing elements of local culture," he added.

He noted that the event was an initial step toward the main Larata Run, scheduled for December 13, 2026. For the main event, the company is targeting 1,600 participants across two categories, the 5K Fun Walk and 8K Fun Run.

The event will also feature 500 cyclists from various communities, who will follow a route from the Manggarai area to the finish line at the LRT Jakarta Depot in Kelapa Gading.

"This event also helps strengthen Kelapa Gading's position as a hub for community activities and a modern transit center in Jakarta," he said.

PT LRT Jakarta is also planning to expand its service network, with proposed extensions to Sunter, Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), and Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK).

"Further extensions to Manggarai and Dukuh Atas are also part of the company's long-term plans," he added.

Aris said PT LRT Jakarta was also working closely with the Jakarta Provincial Government on initiatives to support local economic growth, including a planned trial of Car Free Day in Kelapa Gading. The company is also finalizing studies for the development of a transit-oriented development (TOD) area.

"These efforts are aimed at creating integrated residential areas that are welcoming, inclusive, and sustainable, while supporting Jakarta's transformation into a globally connected city with modern transport links," he concluded.
