Water Channel on Jalan Komodor Halim Perdanakusuma Being Dredged

Personnel of Makasar District Water Resources Unit, East Jakarta is dredging water channel on Jalan Komodor Halim Perdanakusuma, RT 05/01, Kebon Pala Urban Village.

Head of Makasar District Water Resource Unit, Nurdin said the channel, which is one meter wide and two meters high, is dredged for approximately eight meters.

"The sedimentation of mud and debris has reached approximately 15 centimeters. Eight Blue Troop personnel with supporting equipment have been deployed to dredge the area," he said, Thursday (2/12).

Nurdin explained that the shallowing of the water channel is very prone to triggering flooding, especially during heavy rain.

"The target is to complete the dredging work at this location within one day. Hopefully, by increasing the channel's capacity, the potential for flooding can be prevented," he added.

Siti Maryam, one of the local residents, said previously, the water channel did not function optimally due to silting and blockages.

"We express our gratitude and appreciation to the Makasar District Water Resources Unit for their quick response to the need to dredge this water channel," she said.
