Transjakarta Offers Free ‘Takjil’ This Ramadan

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) is set to spread the spirit of giving by distributing free takjil (fast-breaking snacks) throughout the 1447 Hijri/2026 Ramadan season. More than 520,000 snack packs have been earmarked for this massive giveaway.

Committed to upping its game in service quality

Transjakarta President Director Welfizon Yuza shared that the company is rolling out the red carpet for Ramadan with a special campaign dubbed ‘Melangkah Dalam Kebaikan’ (Stepping in Kindness), with the free takjil distribution serving as one of its star attractions.

The initiative is designed to ensure that daily commutes go the extra mile in terms of meaning, while reimagining bus stops as inclusive, educational, and productive public hubs for all Jakartans.

"Through this series of programs, Transjakarta is committed to upping its game in service quality and building bridges with people from all walks of life during this holy month,” he expressed, Thursday (2/12).

By joining forces with various strategic partners, the program centers on a three-pronged approach: Bukadijalan, Ngebuburide, and MH Thamrin Ramadan Corner.

Welfizon explained that the ‘Melangkah Dalam Kebaikan’ itinerary features several flagship initiatives:

1. Bukadijalan: Sharing Warmth on Every Mile

This initiative is a direct response to the heavy foot traffic and high mobility of commuters as the fast-breaking hour approaches. Through the Bukadijalan activity, Transjakarta aims to provide comfort to those still on the move.

Working in tandem with the private sector, Transjakarta will distribute over 520,000 free takjil packs across its entire network. This massive undertaking spans 14 main Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors, 10 Royaltrans routes, 11 Transjabodetabek routes, and six designated bus stops throughout the holy month.

The Bukadijalan initiative stands as a gesture of goodwill toward loyal commuters who find themselves still on the move when the Maghrib call to prayer echoes across the city.

“We want to ensure that our passengers can break their fast with ease and on the dot, even if they are still in the middle of their commute,” he remarked.

This year, Transjakarta is joining forces with six prominent industry players to offer a diverse lineup of nine different products. The bountiful assortment of fast-breaking snacks includes:

Biskies Oat Gandum Kurma: 250,000 pieces

AQUA Mineral Water: 130,000 pieces

AirAlam Mineral Water: 35,000 pieces

Nulife Wafer and Nulife Sweetener: 25,000 pieces

Sunpride Bananas & Sunpride Juice: 36,666 pieces

Mizone Isotonic Drink: 15,000 pieces

Entrasol O’Live Milk: 15,000 pieces

Lemonilo Brownies Crunchy: 15,000 pieces

2. Ngebuburide: Inclusive Transport Edutainment

Fuelled by a deep sense of social responsibility, Transjakarta is joining hands with the Jakarta Social Affairs Agency to host Ngebuburide.

The program, which runs five times a week, treats children from vulnerable backgrounds and elderly residents from nursing homes across Jakarta's five administrative regions to a unique experience. Participants enjoy scenic bus tours and creative workshops at bus stops, capping off the day by breaking bread together during communal iftar.

“The aim is to catch them young, instilling an appreciation for public transit through a fun and educational approach,” Welfizon noted.

3. MH Thamrin Ramadan Corner: A Hub for Lifestyle and MSMEs

Transjakarta is leveraging its iconic MH Thamrin station by repurposing it into the "Ramadan Corner." The area has been given a makeover to become an aesthetic public square dedicated to giving a leg up to local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Passengers can browse to their heart's content or simply soak up the festive vibes while waiting for the sun to set.

*We aim to make Transjakarta much more than just a way of getting from point A to point B. Through ‘Stepping in Kindness,’ we are establishing a people-centric lifestyle hub where social, educational, and economic facets go hand in hand within a single public transit ecosystem,” he underscored.
