KJP and Free School Programs Being Strengthened

Jakarta City Council's Commission E together with Jakarta Education Agency discussed a number of strategic programs in the 2027 Pre-Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) meeting. The focus of the Pre-RKPD discussion included strengthening the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) and continuing the free private school program.

In 2026, there are 105 schools

Commission E Chairman, M Subki said, the Education Agency has outlined plans for the continuation of the program in 2026, including increasing the number of private schools participating in the free school program, structuring ASN and PPPK teachers, and strengthening the KJP and Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU) programs.

"The continuation of the 2026 program was presented earlier," he said, Wednesday (3/4).

He explained that by 2026, the target number of private schools to be included in the free school program is 105. Although two schools withdrew, Commission E requested that the Education Agency immediately find replacements to ensure the quota is met and the budget is optimally utilized.

"In 2026, there are 105 schools. Two schools withdrew, but we've requested replacements to maintain the number of schools and ensure the budget is utilized," he explained.

The free school program covers elementary, middle, high, and vocational schools (SMK), as well as special schools (SLB). Kindergarten (TK) is not yet covered by the program.

Through the discussion of the Pre-RKPD, Commission E hopes that the planned education programs in the future will be more targeted and able to expand access to education for the people of Jakarta.

"The free school program is for elementary, junior, high, vocational, and special schools," he emphasized.
