South Jakarta Records 1,255 Rabies Vaccinations for February

The South Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) has hit a significant milestone in the city’s public safety efforts, providing free rabies vaccinations to 1,255 animals throughout February 2026.

The action, led by the South Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency targeted eight districts across the region. According to Irawati Harry Artharini, Head of Livestock and Animal Health Sub-agency, the program successfully reached an average of over 100 animals per sub-district.

"It is designed to curb the spread of rabies while prioritizing the well-being of both local pets and the general public," she expressed, Friday (3/6).

She provided a sub-district-by-sub-district breakdown of the vaccination turnout, highlighting strong participation across the region:

• Jagakarsa: 239 animals

• Pancoran: 191 animals

• Setiabudi: 183 animals

• Pesanggrahan: 164 animals

• Cilandak: 160 animals

• Pasar Minggu: 126 animals

• Tebet: 125 animals

• Kebayoran Baru: 67 animals

• Pasar Minggu: 126 animals

• Setiabudi: 183 animals

• Tebet: 125 animals

"Of the 1,255 animals vaccinated, the vast majority were cats, totaling 1,175. The rest of the tally included 121 dogs, 13 monkeys, and four civets, all of which received their rabies shots as part of the drive," she stated.

Artharini lauded local residents for their commitment to responsible pet ownership by taking advantage of the free vaccination drive.

"Hopefully, this action continues to boost public awareness about the importance of protecting our pets and preventing the spread of rabies within the community," she added.

She noted that her party plans to ramp up its vaccination efforts, setting an ambitious target to inoculate 10,200 animals by the end of the year.

"We are fully committed to maintaining Jakarta’s status as a rabies-free city," she emphasized.
