Eid Homecoming Traffic Begins to Pick Up at Pulo Gebang Terminal

With nine days remaining before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, homecoming traffic at Pulo Gebang Integrated Bus Terminal has begun to show an increase, although it is not yet significant.

"Currently, most travelers are heading to destinations outside Java,"

Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal Management Unit Head, Christianto, said the number of departing passengers has risen by about five percent compared to normal days.

Peak of Eid Homecoming Flow to Occur Twice

"Currently, most travelers are heading to destinations outside Java such as Sumatra, East Nusa Tenggara, and West Nusa Tenggara. The surge in homecoming travel is expected to begin on Friday (3/13) night and continue through the weekend," he informed on Thursday (3/12).

Christianto explained that various facilities and services have been prepared to ensure smooth homecoming travel. The terminal will also host several free homecoming programs organized by external parties.

"Tomorrow there will be a free homecoming program from Gojek, followed by another on Monday from the Ministry of Transportation, and next Tuesday from GoTo," he added.

According to him, a total of 9,263 passengers departed from the terminal on 1,632 buses between Saturday (3/7) and Thursday (3/12) at noon.

He also urged travelers to maintain cleanliness and keep an eye on their belongings while at the terminal and during their journey.

"I also remind passengers to purchase tickets only through official counters at the terminal," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Rita (41), a traveler heading to Padang, West Sumatra, said she deliberately departed earlier to avoid heavy traffic that usually occurs closer to Eid.

"I've been on holiday since last Monday, but I could only leave today. I'm worried that if I travel tomorrow or the next day, I'll get stuck in traffic because it usually gets crowded closer to Eid," she shared.
