Jakarta City Council Commission B Vice Chairman, Wahyu Dewanto welcomed the launch of the Transjabodetabek SH2 service (Blok M – Soekarno-Hatta Airport).
This is a good move
This service is deemed a solution to reduce private vehicle usage to the airport, which currently stands at approximately 80 percent.
According to him, this new public transport option will enhance mobility for Greater Jakarta residents commuting to and from Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
TransJabodetabek Blok M-Soetta Airport Officially Operates, Rp3,500 for 3 Months“In my view, this is a good move to ease travel for Jakarta people and surrounding areas to and from the airport,” he expressed, Friday (3/13).
He also noted that the service would provide convenience for visitors coming to Jakarta, both domestic and international.
Nevertheless, he reminded the operators to pay attention to several key aspects, such as consistent service timing and the readiness of supporting facilities at both departure and arrival points.
Several aspects that require attention include passenger queue management and the availability of assistance for those carrying luggage or suitcases.
"Matters such as service consistency and facilities at both the airport and Blok M, including queue management and assistance for passengers with luggage, must be a priority," he explained.
He added that the Transjabodetabek service serves as an additional alternative for the public, complementing the existing public transportation modes to the airport.
He hoped that this new service would be widely publicized soon so that the community could utilize it optimally.
“I also hope this service can be well-publicized soon so the public can benefit from it,” he remarked.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung launched the Transjabodetabek SH2 route, connecting Blok M and Soekarno-Hatta Airport. This program aims to reduce the dominance of private vehicle use for airport travel.
The service operates a fleet of 14 low-deck buses equipped with luggage compartments for suitcases. The buses run from 5 AM to 10 PM, with a target of serving up to 2,000 passengers daily.
As part of the Idulfitri homecoming promotion, the fare is set at Rp 3,500 for the first three months. After this period, the fare will be evaluated and is projected to range between Rp 10,000 and Rp 15,000 to ensure the sustainability of regional subsidies.
