The Jakarta Provincial Government has taken swift steps to anticipate the impact of the spread of volcanic ash due to the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

Uus also explained several mitigation and preparedness measures to maintain air quality and public health, namely a large-scale water mist operation that began today, Sunday (9/6) at around 4 PM, by deploying 30 to 40 Fire and Rescue, and City Parks and Forests Agencies fleets.
"The spraying aims to bind dust and volcanic ash particles in the air. Water mist operations will be carried out routinely twice daily (morning and evening) until air conditions are declared to have improved," he explained.
According to him, the water mist operation at the Jakarta Province level is focused along Jalan Sudirman - MH Thamrin , in North Jakarta on Jalan Yos Sudarso to Tanjung Priok Terminal and the Pluit area.
For Central Jakarta, operations were carried out on Jalan Cempaka Putih to Gunung Sahari, East Jakarta on Jalan Pramuka, UKI, to Kampung Melayu Terminal.
Meanwhile, in South Jakarta, the focus was on Jalan Rasuna Said (in front of the Corruption Eradication Commission) to Gatot Subroto, and in West Jakarta along Jalan S. Parman, Daan Mogot and Tomang.
The Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, continued Uus Kuswanto, also determined the implementation of School from Home (PJJ) for all schools in Jakarta starting Monday (9/7).
"Face-to-face learning will be implemented after there is no more volcanic ash or impact from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau," he continued.
He also asked residents to remain calm and not panic, but to remain vigilant by taking several independent anticipatory steps, such as wearing masks when doing outdoor activities.
Then, reduce outdoor activities if not urgent and close doors and windows to minimize the entry of ash.
"Building owners who have water mist facilities are encouraged to operate them independently," he appealed.
The Jakarta Provincial Government also coordinates with BMKG and BPBD to monitor the latest data in real time.
Residents experiencing a medical emergency or requiring immediate assistance can contact the Jakarta Siaga 112 service or visit the nearest health facility which remains on standby 24 hours.
"The government remains on alert. We urge the public to follow official information from government channels and not to easily believe unverified information," he emphasized.
