Transjakarta Targets Full Fleet Upgrade with SYNTRA Technology

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) is strengthening its commitment to passenger safety and operational reliability by deploying artificial intelligence-based driver monitoring technology.

Through its SYNTRA platform, integrated with the Advanced Driver Assistance System–Driver Monitoring System (ADAS-DMS), the technology is designed to detect potential risks during operations, including fatigue, distraction and signs of microsleep among drivers in real time.

The system sends real-time alerts to drivers and notifies the operations control center when signs of fatigue or distraction are detected, enabling swift mitigation.

Currently, around 2,000 Transjakarta buses have been equipped with ADAS-DMS technology. Of the total fleet of over 5,000 buses, about 3,000 are set to be equipped with the system gradually.

Transjakarta Service and Information Technology Director Raditya Rusdi said the company is targeting accelerated implementation this year to expand the technology across the entire fleet.

In addition to strengthening real-time monitoring during operations, Transjakarta is also trialing technology to detect drivers' sleep patterns and stress levels.

"About 2,000 buses have been equipped with the technology, and we will accelerate its rollout across the fleet this year. At the same time, we are testing systems to detect drivers' sleep patterns and stress levels so preventive measures can be taken earlier, even before drivers begin their shifts," Raditya explained on Tuesday (3/17).

He noted that the initiative is part of Transjakarta's digital transformation, with passenger safety as the top priority.

"Passenger safety is non-negotiable for Transjakarta. We are strengthening it through SYNTRA, which is integrated with ADAS-DMS to help detect driver fatigue and potential microsleep in real time," he stressed.

Raditya added that the initiative is aimed at enhancing preventive measures, allowing potential fatigue to be identified at an earlier stage, including before drivers begin operations.

"Through these real-time and preventive system enhancements, Transjakarta aims to further improve public transport safety standards and deliver services that are safer, more reliable and more responsive for all passengers," he emphasized.
