24,412 Homecoming Travelers Departed from Senen Station

Entering D-4 of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, Tuesday (3/17), 24,412 homecoming travelers departed by train from Pasar Senen Station, Central Jakarta.

Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, Franoto Wibowo, said that the number of passengers today had increased compared to D-5 yesterday by more than 17 thousand passengers.

He added that the increase in the number of passengers will occur on D-3, tomorrow, coinciding with the first day of the long holiday of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.

"The surge in passengers returning to their hometowns reflects the high interest of residents in using train transportation," he added.

There are several destination cities for homecoming travelers, including Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Semarang, Bandung, Purwokerto and Jember.

He explained that PT KAI has sold more than 732,000 departure tickets from March 11 to April 1. Of that number, 346,845 passengers departed from the Jakarta Operational Area 1 (Daop 1).

Suyarto (45), a resident of Sunter, North Jakarta, admitted he chooses to go home to Semarang with family by train because it is safer and more comfortable.

"Using train is safer and more comfortable," he admitted.
