Jakarta's Mudik to Jakarta Program Hits Rp21 Trillion in Transactions

The Jakarta Government's "Mudik to Jakarta" program during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri has recorded a massive transaction value, reaching Rp21 trillion as of Wednesday (3/25).

"Many provinces have begun implementing similar programs,"

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung expressed optimism that the figure could still rise, as the program will run until March 31, 2026.

"The total has reached Rp21 trillion, and we hope it will surpass that figure by March 31," he asserted at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (3/25).

According to Pramono, the program has received a strong public response, with several regional governments adopting similar initiatives to boost economic activity in their areas.

He cited Semarang, which recorded around Rp8 billion in transactions, while Surabaya reached Rp6.2 billion through similar programs.

"Many provinces have begun implementing similar programs," he added.

He noted that the program's success was driven by cross-sector collaboration involving various stakeholders, including Citilink, PT Kereta Api Indonesia, as well as the hospitality industry, tourist destinations, shopping centers, and other supporting sectors.

In addition, the Jakarta Provincial Government boosted public mobility by offering free public transportation services on March 21–22, a policy that significantly increased ridership.

Data shows MRT Jakarta served 135,117 passengers, up 59 percent compared with the previous year, while LRT Jakarta recorded 9,987 passengers, an increase of 6 percent.

A surge in activity was also seen in the tourism sector, with several key destinations in Jakarta reporting higher visitor numbers during the Eid holiday period.

The National Monument (Monas) recorded 126,797 visitors from March 22 to 24. Meanwhile, Ragunan Zoo welcomed 222,991 visitors, and Ancol attracted 155,000 visitors.

Pramono ensured that public services during the Eid homecoming period ran smoothly, with minimal complaints from the public.

"Public services have run well during this year's Eid homecoming period. There have been relatively no significant complaints," he said.
