Over 141 Tons of Post-Flood Waste Cleared in East Jakarta

A total of 141.37 tons of post-flood waste in East Jakarta has been cleared by joint personnel since Monday (3/23) through Friday morning (3/27).

"A total of 199 personnel were deployed,"

East Jakarta Environment Sub-agency Head Monang Sinaga informed that flooding on March 21-22, 2026 left a significant volume of waste.

25 Tons of Trash Carried Away by Floodwaters in Kramat Jati Cleaned

"The waste was not only carried by floodwaters but also came from residents' household items damaged by the flooding," he said on Friday (3/27).

He added that cleanup efforts were also hindered by the post-Eid return flow, as many residents only discovered the condition of their homes after returning to Jakarta and gradually disposed of damaged belongings.

"This has required personnel to carry out repeated cleanups in several locations," he explained.

Of the total waste collected, Pasar Rebo Sub-district recorded the highest volume at 44 tons, followed by Cipayung with 35 tons, Ciracas 31 tons, Kramat Jati 25 tons, and Makasar 6.37 tons.

According to Monang, the cleanup involved collaboration with multiple parties, including urban village officials, the Water Agency's Waste Management Unit (UPS), and local residents.

"A total of 199 personnel were deployed, comprising 101 PPSU workers, 53 Environment Sub-agency personnel, 18 UPS Water Agency personnel, and 27 residents," he noted.

To speed up the process, dozens of vehicles were deployed, including two large tipper trucks and eight smaller ones from the Environment Sub-agency, 10 PPSU Hilux units, five motorized carts (germor), five open-bed trucks from the Water Agency's UPS, and five open-bed vehicles from the Environment Sub-agency.

"All vehicles were used to collect waste from residential areas before being transferred to larger trucks and transported to Bantar Gebang Integrated Waste Processing Site in Bekasi, West Java," he said.
