Jakarta Endorses New Housing Project for Residents on Railway Embankments

Jakarta is backing the Central Government’s initiative to provide new homes for those residing along railway corridors. Governor Pramono Anung expressed this support following a directive from President Prabowo Subianto.

We will fully back the central government’s plan

"We will fully back the central government’s plan to manage housing for people living along the railway tracks," he stated, at Tosari Transjakarta Bus Stop, Central Jakarta, Saturday (3/28).

Regarding substandard housing, the Jakarta administration has already moved residents from public cemetery grounds into low-cost apartments.

City and Central Governments Ready to Provide Affordable Housing

"Residents living on TPU land are being transferred to existing public housing units. This initiative aims to reclaim the cemetery land for its designated use and ensure a healthier living environment for the people," he explained.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto issued an instruction regarding the construction of new housing for residents still living along the railway tracks, following an unannounced field visit (blusukan) to the Senen Station area, Central Jakarta on Thursday (3/26).
