Rano: Central Government Supports Jakarta Flood Control Program

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Rano Karno, assured the flood control program in Jakarta receives support from the central government through the National Strategic Program (PSN).

His party had also held a coordination meeting on flood management together with the central government. The meeting also discussed financial support for flood control from the central government through PSN.

According to him, the financial support from the central government in tackling this flood was not due to considering the budget capacity of the Jakarta Government.

However, the budget realization for flood control could not be fully allocated in a single fiscal year. Hence, budget support through the National Strategic Projects (PSN) was aimed at accelerating the realization of flood control programs in Jakarta.

"Well, now with the help of PSN, we will focus more on fixing the Ciliwung," he asserted.

He added the review of the flood-affected area such as on Jalan Kamboja, RT 05/08, Lebak Bulus, Cilandak today is part of the problem mapping.

If we want to fix the house, we should first look at the leaks, not the dry spots. Now that it's leaking, we know where the lowest points are," he explained.

Besides South Jakarta, he also visited areas of East Jakarta affected by flooding due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River on Monday (3/3). The visit was made to two locations in Kampung Melayu and Bidara Cina neighbohoods located in Jatinegara.
