Kampung Rambutan Terminal Sees Increase in Intercity Bus Passengers

A surge in passengers was recorded at Kampung Rambutan Terminal during the long holiday coinciding with the Easter holiday and the weekend. From Thursday (4/2) afternoon to Friday (4/3) morning, hundreds of passengers crowded the terminal area, both arriving and departing to various destinations.

"Since Thursday afternoon, there has been an increase in passenger numbers,"

Kampung Rambutan Terminal Head Revi Zulkarnain said the spike is a common occurrence during long holidays.

"Since Thursday afternoon, there has been an increase in passenger numbers, especially for destinations to Sumatra, West Java, and Central Java," he informed, Friday (4/3).

Revi explained that on Thursday (4/2), from 6 AM to 10 PM, a total of 750 passengers departed using 93 intercity and interprovincial (AKAP) buses. Meanwhile, arrivals reached 2,109 passengers with 180 buses.

"From early Friday morning to 6 AM, 37 passengers departed on three AKAP buses, while arrivals reached 831 passengers on 73 buses," he added.

Revi predicted the surge would continue into the afternoon, given the Easter holiday coinciding with the weekend.

"If it had not been close to the previous Eid al-Fitr holiday, the number of passengers could have been even higher," he said.

He noted that weekend passenger surges are common, driven by high mobility as people travel home or for leisure.

"We urge passengers to stay alert, keep their belongings secure, and use official terminal facilities when getting on and off," he highlighted.

Meanwhile, an intercity bus passenger bound for Pekalongan, Syaihu (45), said he was only able to travel home during this holiday.

"I couldn’t return home during Eid al-Fitr because I was busy selling goods in the Pasar Rebo area. It would have been a pity to leave since it was crowded," he said.
