LRT Will Use Standard Rail

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama disclosed that President Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo had decided to use standard type for construction of Light Rail Transit (LRT). The decision was taken in the closed meeting (ratas) in Presidential Palace.

President was told that the discussion must be on time. And he has made a decision where LRT to use standard type

"Mr. Jonan (Minister of Transportation) said any decision must be in Mr. President. President was told that the discussion must be on time. And he has made a decision where LRT to use standard type," disclosed Basuki, at City Hall, Wednesday (6/8).

After such decision, there is no more problem in the construction thus it can be realized as soon as possible. As planned, it would be started on June 22, precisely on Jakarta's 489's anniversary.

Many Investors Interested to Fund LRT

As for the LRT that passes the Greater Jakarta, its construction will use State Budget (APBN). But if there is public service obligation (PSO) or subsidy for passenger and will be operated by the city administration. 

"The concept is like bus where people from Tangerang, Depok, Bekasi only pay Rp 3,500," he expressed.

To allocate PSO, cross-subsidy will be conducted by implementing electronic road pricing (ERP). "Money from ERP is for subsidy, precisely deposited to PSO," he explained. 

He added, at this time, his party still awaits revision of presidential regulation No. 99/2015 on the direct appointment of BUMD. After it is signed, the project can be recontinued. "Regulation would be revised again. So far it is good," he finished.
