The Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development of the East Jakarta City Administration, Fauzi, said that the control of the suckerfish will continue because their numbers are so large that they can disrupt the balance of the ecosystem.

"This suckerfish is highly disruptive to the ecosystem due to its invasive nature. It also has the potential to impact health if consumed due to suspected mercury contamination," he said, Tuesday (4/21).

Fauzi detailed that from the catch carried out yesterday, in Makasar District it reached 481.55 kilograms, Ciracas 280 kilograms, and Cipayung 250 kilograms.

"In Cakung District, the amount was 240.6 kilograms, Pasar Rebo 178 kilograms, Kramat Jati 114 kilograms, Jatinegara 113.5 kilograms, Matraman 86 kilograms, Duren Sawit 64.5 kilograms, and Pulo Gadung 47.2 kilograms," he explained.
