Aneka Elok Reservoir Optimized as Third Space

The East Jakarta City Government has begun optimizing the use of the Aneka Elok Reservoir in Penggilingan Urban Village, Cakung District as a third space for various positive community activities.

East Jakarta Mayor Munjirin said that the newly revitalized Aneka Elok Reservoir is now functioning as a public space that can be used by the public for various activities.

"After being revitalized by the Water Resources Sub-agency, this reservoir has become a public area that can be used for sports and social activities," he said, during the inauguration ceremony and leading the planting of shade trees and the release of 5,000 Java Barb fish, Tuesday (4/21).

Besides being a public space, the reservoir also serves a primary function as flood control infrastructure. The area is equipped with a number of facilities, including pedestrian paths, jogging tracks, bicycle paths, parks, and maintenance ramps.

"This reservoir is expected to reduce the risk of flooding while improving environmental quality and providing a space for interaction for the community," he added.

It is hoped that the release of java barb fish will provide additional benefits for residents, especially in supporting the fulfillment of family nutrition.

"Various other types of fish can also be added to this reservoir," he continued.

Meanwhile, a resident, Nurhayati, said she is happy that the Aneka Elok Reservoir is opened to the public.

She invited other residents to play an active role in maintaining cleanliness and security in the Aneka Elok Reservoir area.

"I hope that the facilities that are not yet available can be completed soon so that the public will feel more comfortable using this reservoir as a public space," she hoped.
