"From this activity, electricity cost savings of Rp. 140,226,312 were recorded as well as a reduction in carbon emissions of 77.53 tons of CO2e," he explained.
He added that this program will continue to be implemented periodically every year, with the hope of encouraging Jakarta residents to make energy saving a daily habit.
These energy-saving activities can be started from simple steps in each home, such as replacing conventional lamps with energy-saving LED lamps, unplugging unused electronic equipment and regulating the temperature of the air conditioner efficiently.
"These small daily habits can make a big contribution to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the creation of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable Jakarta," he stated.
As for information, in the blackout action that took place on Saturday (4/25), starting at 8:30-9:30 PM, streetlights were turned off on a number of protocol and arterial roads in the Jakarta area, including Jakarta City icons such as the National Monument (Monas), the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, the Welcome Statue at the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout, the Pemuda Statue, the Jenderal Sudirman Statue, and the Jakarta Provincial City Hall. All locations were in darkness for 60 minutes.
