The Jakarta Provincial Government, in collaboration with the Public Works Ministry, plans to build a large-capacity reservoir and water treatment plant (WTP) on Jalan Raya Kresek in Duri Kosambi Urban Village, Cengkareng Sub-district, West Jakarta.
The facility will have a capacity of 200 LPS and is scheduled for groundbreaking around August
The plan was announced by Jakarta Vice Governor Rano Karno during the inauguration of a portable WTP at the site on Wednesday (4/29).
Rano Inaugurates Semanan Portable Water Treatment PlantAccording to him, the portable WTP, with a capacity of two to four liters per second (LPS), serves as a short-term solution to meet residents' clean water needs. It will later be replaced with a larger-capacity facility.
"Portable technology means it's temporary. Once the reservoir is completed, this unit can be relocated to another area," he explained.
Arief Nasrudin, President Director of PAM Jaya, said the planned reservoir will have a capacity of up to 24 million liters, with the first phase comprising an eight-million-liter unit.
"The initial phase of reservoir construction is expected to be completed in May," Arief noted.
He added that groundbreaking for a large-capacity WTP at the same site is planned for August.
"The facility will have a capacity of 200 LPS and is scheduled for groundbreaking around August. Hopefully, there will be no obstacles,," he said.
