Innovations in Organic Waste Management Introduced

The South Jakarta Environmental Sub-agency presents innovative waste management strategies, especially organic waste through more effective and sustainable composting methods.

effective way to reduce, even overcome, organic waste

Head of the Sub-agency, Dedy Setiono said the party has developed various innovations in organic waste management, including the Jumbo Biopori and Modern Teba methods.

"We believe this method is an effective way to reduce, even overcome, organic waste so that it is not disposed of in landfills," he said, Thursday (4/30).

Waste Sorting Campaign in South Jakarta Intensified

Dedy explained that Jumbo Biopore is a large-scale organic waste processing method using a plastic barrel with a capacity of around 30 liters which is perforated and planted in the ground.

"This method is a development of conventional biopore infiltration holes with a larger capacity to accommodate kitchen waste and dry leaves," he explained.

Meanwhile, Teba Modern is a method of independent organic waste management based on local wisdom in the form of a compost pit resembling a well two to three meters deep that is reinforced with concrete and equipped with a cover.

According to him, several areas in South Jakarta have already begun implementing this method. He hopes this independent and sustainable organic waste management will be implemented more widely.

"We have directed all levels at the district level to educate the public about this innovation. The goal is to process organic waste into something useful, even having economic value," he stated.
